[edit] Geography

The latitude of Serena is 41.509N. The longitude is -88.76W. Elevation is 640 feet.

The population, at the time of the 2000 census, was 980.

Serena Township is located in LaSalle County, Illinois. The population was 980 at the 2000 census. Serena Township changed its name from Warren Township in May, 1850.

This township is so extremely rural, that the school there contains grades from Kindergarten all the way through twelfth grade, and due to a referendum in the year 2001, a new addition to the school was built thanks to many parents in the area that were willing to have their taxes raised to pay for it!

Don't be fooled by its country charm; the school still teaches at regular educational standards and the mascot is Bob, the Cornhusk! Not the most creative idea, but perfect according to the surroundings.

The only aquatic life in the town isn't even technically in the town, but about 2 miles eastbound down Rt. 52, at a private residence/farm.

According to polls taken, many of the children that attend the school are often bored, and sick of the quiet life they have there. Many wish to live the city life, and hate anything to do with their rural life that contains much more livestock and vegetables than the normal teenagers.

It is a very comfortable environment to raise your child, mostly hidden from the evils of the world. Drugs are not very prominent besides the few alcoholic parents, wishing they'd picked a better place to move, and the local teenagers that somehow come across marijuana - most likely by growing it themselves or driving it in from the city.

Overall, it's a decent community containing about 30 houses in the perimeter of the actual town, and another 30 or so houses outside the boundaries in the endless country fields.

This town is recommended for new parents, wishing to get away from all the city noise and corruption, or anyone wishing to raise their family in peace. It's definitely not a place you'd want to visit, unless you have relatives there you haven't seen in ages.

The town only consists of a school, an auto mechanic, a fire station, and of course houses. Hopefully one day they will add a local grocery store or a gas station, but it's highly doubtful considering the low income made by the town's superiors.
