1886 John Taylor did receive the mentioned revelation, the revelation is not controversial and is easily understood by knowing the vocabulary used (vocabulary that precedes the revelation). There is no mention of polygamy in the revelation and mainstream LDS have no issues with the revelation. It is simply used by the fundamentalists as justification.
