Talk:September 11 2001 fifth anniversary

The first and fifth anniversary of an event, joyous or tragedy, is an event worth noting. As I stated in the edit, I will sit down and flesh out the article with more details and citations, while refraining from POV. What makes this event notable was that the amount of political demonstration far outweighed that of actual mourning for victims - it is a sign that America was beginning to shift its focus from the loss of life that day, to the political consequences of the event.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ozgod (talkcontribs) .

Do you have some reliable source citations that support the notion that "the amount of political demonstration far outweighed that of actual mourning for victims". The only sources I find that give that impression are ones such as ny911truth.org and prisonplanet. Any media reporters who had press passes for the main events for the families paid little attention to the protesters. I'm afraid that this topic is more suitable for Wikinews - though a few months too late. --Aude (talk) 05:29, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

There was media present, I am working on obtaining other sources beyond my own digital camera. Nonetheless, it was an important event, marking the five year milestone. I am not seeking to created a Featured Article with this, but a documentation of that specific date and time and the events that occured. The wording needs to be chosen very carefully, you are right, and I'll work on fixing that.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ozgod (talkcontribs) .

Media covering the "truthers"? Which media outlets? --Aude (talk) 05:38, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Not truthers, the media was there covering the enormity of the crowds present. They conducted no interviews from what I saw or observed while I was there.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ozgod (talkcontribs) .

The media was there to cover the families and visit of dignitaries (e.g. the President and First Lady, Governor Pataki, Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani). The "truthers" were a sideshow that the media did not give much attention to. Which media outlets covered the "crowds"? --Aude (talk) 05:52, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
And, the anniversary was also observed at other places, with strong media presence. --Aude (talk) 05:52, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, and hence the creation of this article. At the moment the only solid "citations" I have to offer are the pictures I took while present. Hopefully people who attended the memorials in their respective locations will add to this article as well. I want to make it clear I didn't create this article as a firestarter, but as a documentation of this specific year.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ozgod (talkcontribs) .

I have doubts that the article can work, in consideration of WP:NOT. This is more of a news topic that is better suited for wikinews, had it been written a few months ago. It can't just be "firsthand reports" and pictures, as this article has started out. I won't AFD it though, as I'm willing to allow some time to see where you're taking this. --Aude (talk) 06:09, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
