Seputar Indonesia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seputar Indonesia (lit. 'Around Indonesia') is Indonesia's longest evening newscast ever carried by a private television station. It appeared on RCTI at the end of 1989 as Seputar Jakarta ('Around Jakarta') before it evolved to go nationwide in early 1990. Since the end of 2005, the programme has regained its position as the most-watched newscast in the country, according to ratings by Nielsen Media Research. During its early years, Seputar Indonesia was also carried by RCTI's then sister station SCTV.

In 2005, the name Seputar Indonesia has also been used by a daily newspaper published by the Media Nusantara Citra (MNC) group, the media holding of Bimantara Citra business group. MNC also oversees television stations RCTI, TPI and Global TV, as well as Trijaya Radio and ARH Radio.
