[edit] Relation to other lunar eclipses

This eclipse is the first of four Metonic cycle lunar eclipses on the same date, September 7, each separated by 19 years:

  1. September 7, 2006 [1] - penumbral (Saros series 118)
  2. September 7, 2025 [2] - total (Saros series 128)
  3. September 7, 2044 [3] - partial (Saros series 138)
  4. September 7, 2063 [4] - partial (Saros series 148)

The moon's path through the earth's shadow near its ascending node progresses northward through each sequential eclipse. The second and third are total eclipses.
