Sepid Persian Poetry

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sepid poetry is a type of Modern Persian poetry.

The word "sepid" means "white" and it refers to a certain class of Persian poetry initiated by Ahmad Shamloo and came to its mature form and general acceptance after Bijan Jalali.

Sepid poetry is a kind of free verse that departs from the tightly balanced rhythm and rhymes of classical Persian poetry.[1]

For the last two decades of his life, Manouchehr Atashi was also involved in Sepid poetry.

The Persian word for "white" is "sefid" (pronounced: sefeed). There is no "p" in the Persian word for "white".

The persian word for "white" is "sefid" as well as "sepid". "Sepid" ist properly persian and is rather used in poetry. The sound "p" in a persian word means that the word is properly persian without any arabic influence because there exists no "p"-sound in the arabic language.
