Separate Lies is a 2005 romantic drama film made by Celador Films, DNA Films and Fox Searchlight Pictures. It was directed by Julian Fellowes who also wrote the screenplay, updating the 1951 novel A Way Through the Wood by Nigel Balchin. It was produced by Steve Clark-Hall and Christian Colson, with a music score by Stanislas Syrewicz and cinematography by Tony Pierce-Roberts.
The film stars Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson and Rupert Everett with Hermione Norris, John Warnaby, Linda Bassett, David Harewood, Richenda Carey and John Neville. The film marks the directorial debut of Julian Fellowes, who had previously written the screenplay for Gosford Park.
