Seolmacheon

The Seolmacheon in South Korea is a tributary of the Imjin River, which it joins at Jeokseong, and it was on Gloster Hill, between the two rivers, that the British Gloucestershire Regiment suffered defeat at the hands of the Chinese in the Battle of the Imjin River, a major event in the Korean War, from April 22 to April 25, 1951. There is a permanent memorial here (37°56'33.78"N, 126°56'21.00"E) and the British Embassy in Seoul organises a service here every April to commemorate the event.
