Talk:Send in the Clowns
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The song was also parodied on Dexter's Laboratory. In the episode "Double Trouble", Dexter exclamaims "Where are clones??? Send in the clones!!!" when confronted with thousands of clones of his sister Dee Dee.
I think a similar joke was made in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.

[edit] tessitura
It's not necessary to take on airs with Wiki readers. They understand 'vocal range' but if they read 'tessitura' all they're going to think (which may be true) is that the article author is an insufferable snob.
Also: disparaging this song as something 'simplistic' - that must have been penned by someone with two tin ears, no musical background, and no clue. The song is harmonically extremely unusual and because of the middle eight modulations quite the challenge no matter the vocal range of the artist. Barbra Streisand doesn't take on simplistic songs. This is an extremely sophisticated piece, extremely challenging to sing well, and the original author's callousness, lack of sensitivity, and latent arrogance do it and the author a grave injustice.
[edit] the muppets
was there an episode in which the carpenters did a rendition of this song?
- Why don't you find out?
[edit] Van Morrison cover
Perhaps worth mentioning that Van the Man covered this song occasionally in concert in the early 1990s (including June 27, 1991). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.14.57.240 (talk) 04:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Meaning of Phrase
A new section is needed to explain the meaning of the phrase "Send in the Clowns" in the context of the drama. I'm gathering some reference material and will post soon.
