Talk:Senate of Brazil

[edit] Name
I'm not sure that the current title is the best one for this article. I assume that this naming comes from its US counterpart, but for the US this makes sense, since there are State Senates there. In Brazil, however, there is only one Senate, since the state-level legislative branch is designated "Assembly" (and its unicameral), which would make it sufficient to call it "Senate of Brazil". There are also historical reasons, which I suppose are actually more relevant: although the Senate is now the upper house in the legislative branch at the Federal sphere of power, its origin in Brazil dates back to the times of the monarchy, something that should (and in time, will) be explained in this article. I believe that the more general title "Senate of Brazil" would work better for an institution whose background predates the Federal Republic in Brazil. Thoughts? Redux 02:16, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, I'm agree. I'm changing it right now...
- By the way, we have to work on this articles a bit. If you see the page history you'll understand what I mean. José San Martin 03:11, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
