Senior Living Residences

Senior Living Residences, LLC of Boston, MA, also known as SLR, is a privately-held firm providing development consultation, staffing and management for independent and assisted living communities. The firm currently owns two and manages eight communities in eastern Massachusetts.

Senior Living Residences was among the original founders of assisted living in Massachusetts.The company was founded in 1990 and in 1994 they launched their management division. SLR works with both for-profit companies and not-for-profit organizations including the Volunteers of America.[1]

Senior Living Residences was among the first group of companies to develop assisted living in Massachusetts, opening one of the first assisted living communities in the state, The BayView of South Boston [2], in 1994.[3] It was the first company in Massachusetts to convert a nursing home to an assisted living community, and the first provider to offer assisted living to Medicaid-eligible seniors. [4]

Additionally, the principals of the company, Robert Larkin and Peter Mullin, were among the founders of the state’s assisted living industry association, the Massachusetts Assisted Living Facilities Association, a state affiliate of the Assisted Living Federation of America. [5]

Since it was established in 1990, Senior Living Residences has been involved in the development, ownership, lease-up and management of thousands of units of senior living in New England. These communities offer independent living, assisted living, and Memory Support Neighborhoods for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease.

Senior Living Residences currently manages 8 communities in Eastern Massachusetts. They are currently involved in the development of new senior communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
