Background
Senior College Dún Laoghaire(SCD) - College of Further Education was established in 1982 under the statutory authority of the Dún Laoghaire Vocational Education Committee. It is one of three colleges of further education in the Dun Laoghaire area. The others being Dun Laoghaire College of Further Educationand Sallynoggin College of Further Education.

The college developed rapidly and was soon providing Accounting, Marketing, Business, Beautician, Multimedia and Interior Design courses for full-time and part-time students. The College is only engaged in further education and has no second level courses or classes. The college provides awards at FETAC Levels 5 and 6.

SCD continues to offer a wide range of professional programmes with professional bodies such as the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers, Marketing Institute of Ireland, and CIBTAC to name but a few.

Location
Senior College Dún Laoghaire is located in the historic town of Dún Laoghaire, 10 kilometres from Dublin City Centre. Dún Laoghaire is a ferry port, and is located in the hinterland of "Dublin's Riviera" - the stretch of coast encompassing Dalkey and Killiney.

The college is scheduled to relocate to Blackrock in 2008
