Senecio antisanae is a species of Senecio in the Asteraceae family found only in Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montanes. It is threatened by habitat loss.[2]
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from a few old collections in the Andes. The only subpopulation with detailed locale information was recorded at the Hacienda del Isco, in the foothills of Volcán Antisana in the Cordillera of Quito,[2][3] in the year 1845.[3] This subpopulation may now be inside the Reserva Ecológica Antisana,[2][3] a privately owned reserve whose goal is the preservation of the native flora and fauna of the Andean páramo.[4] The species may be a synonym of Aetheolaena senecioides or S. iscoensis (Nordenstam in Jørgensen and León-Yánez 1999). No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums.[2]
Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
