[edit] Summary

Description

The partisan makeup of the Senate during the 110th Congress, by state. Red states are represented by two Republican Senators; blue states, by two Democratic Senators; magenta states, by one Senator from each party; and grey states, by one Democrat and one Independent. Connecticut is colored blue, as incumbent Senator Joseph Lieberman, while re-elected by running under the banner of his own independent party, promised to caucus with the Democrats. Independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont will also caucus with the Democrats.
