Semmelweis University, university for medicine and health-related disciplines, located in Budapest, Hungary, named after the Hungarian physician Ignaz Semmelweis.

The main building of the university, the 23-floor NET (Nagyvárad téri Elméleti Tömb, Theory Block of Nagyvárad tér) is 88 m tall, thus it is the tallest tower block and the third tallest building in Budapest (after the Parliament Building and the Saint Stephen's Basilica in tie, both 96 m).

The university gives degrees to

  • Doctors
  • Dentists
  • Pharmacists
  • Nurses
  • Trainers

Despite being located in Hungary, the university offers both English and German medschool programs (where English and German, respectively, are the languages of instruction).

[edit] History

The school was created from one of the faculties of what is now the University of Budapest, originally founded in 1635 by Péter Pázmány.
