Semikarakorsk

Semikarakorsk (Russian: Семикарако́рск) is a town in Rostov Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Don River, 137 km north-east of Rostov-on-Don. Population: 23,473 (2002 Census); 22,704 (1989 Census). Semikarakorsk is the administrative center of Semikarakorsky District of Rostov Oblast.

The stanitsa of Semikarakorskaya (Семикаракорская), which was founded by the Don Cossacks, was known since 1672. The stanitsa changes location frequently due to Don's flooding, and finally was moved to its present location in 1845.

It was granted the status of urban-type settlement in 1958 and the town status in 1972.
