• 1776 - Adam Weishaupt founds the Illuminati in Ingolstadt, Germany; they and the Freemasonry will be banned in 1784
• 1884 - Proclamation of the demand for eight-hour workday in the United States
• 2004 - Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia will join the European Union.

Yom HaShoah (2008) in Israel

(begins at sunset the previous day). It needs to be moved to May 1 as the Israeli government advanced it one day this year due to it's adjacency to the Jewish Sabbath.[1] (it doesn't say the reason for it at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but they, and everywhere else, mark the day this year as the 26th of Nisan, sunset April 30-May 1).
