• 1919 - Mexican Revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata (pictured) was shot to his death near Ciudad Ayala, Morelos.

re the 1978 entry--Volkswagen was NOT the first non-US auto manufacturer to build cars in the US. Rolls-Royce briefly built autos in Springfield, Mass for around 3 years in the mid 1920s. They are often referred to as "Springfield Rolls" and are highly prized. versen 04:48, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

A candidate for next year:

• 1606 - The Charter of the Virginia Company of London was established by royal charter by King James I of England with the purpose of establishing colonial settlements in North America.

-- PFHLai 18:34, 10 April 2007 (UTC) I would like to bring up the 44th anniversary of the loss with all on board of the USS Thresher, a US Navy nuclear submarine (and a prototype) on April 10th, 1963.
