  • "considered to be the masterwork of the great Ottoman architect Sinan, completed in 1575." Britannica asserts 1575 was the last year of construction. I don't know anything about the subject - I just want to bring this to the author's attention. lots of issues | leave me a message 10:47, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Negative. Information found online suggesting completion on 1575 is wrong. Several trusted historians on the subjects such as Dr. Shiela Blair and Oleg Graber have reported construction commencing 1568 and completed in 1574 a few months before the death of sultan Selim II (December 12, 1574). --NEWUSER|CARPEDIEM (talk) 19:34, May 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Confusion and "accuracy" tag

I deleted the following piece:

"in the neighborhood of Faith. This was one of the least accessible areas of the city with the Kırk Merdiven cliffs on one side and a deep cistern on the other."

By the way, it has a typo: Fatih, not Faith. In any case, the piece is related to different, Sultan Selim Mosque, Istanbul. (Fatih and Kırk Merdiven ("Forty Stairs") are in Istanbul).

The contributor's excuse is that they copied the text from other webpage which didn't check their fact. This is a warning to those who add information from internet, rather than from their own experience: fact cross-checking is important. Inshallah.

I am not an expert and cannot check whether the rest of the description is not confused as well. Therefore I placed the "accuracy" tag. Mukadderat 00:45, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
