Selzen is a village in the Mainz-Bingen / Rhinehessen area in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Selzen is a lovely village in the heart of Rheinhessen. You will have a lot of old vineyards there, and it is worth to visit the vineyards and the "Straußwirtschaft". A "Straußwirtschaft" is a "Rheinhessen - Pub", that's exactly like a Pub in Ireland but only with wine. Very famous are "Zur alten Kastanie", "Am Selzbogen" and "Weingut Schätzel". But you will have a lot more....

Selzen is located on the river "Selz" and it is connected to the "Cycleway Rheinland-Pfalz". The next Airport is Frankfurt or Frankfurt/Hahn. You need around one hour from that Airports to reach Selzen. In Selzen you have a lot of clubs, like a fishing-, singing - or football-club's and for sure the "Selzer Turnverein" or the Baloon Club.

And you will find a lot of Rheinhessen Originals - like "Hinkel Unkel", "Willy" or the "Schellemann". The "Schellemann", Heinrich Wolf, is very famous for his newscast, 50 year ago:

"Alle Leit die Hunn hun, müsse die Hunn um sibbe Uhr hin hun."

Maybe the close-to Nackenheim, with Carl Zuckmeyer, is crucial to that.
