Coordinates: 51°23′58″N 0°04′29″W / 51.3995, -0.0747Selhurst is a suburban development in the London Borough of Croydon 7.8 miles (12.6 km) south-south-east of Charing Cross. A relatively small area, Selhurst is bounded by South Norwood, West Croydon and Thornton Heath and, like nearby Broad Green, has lost its distinct identity from these larger neighbours in recent years . The BRIT School, a performing arts school operated by The BRIT foundation, more commonly known for bringing us the BRIT Awards, is located in Selhurst. Selhurst Park, the ground of Crystal Palace Football Club, is sited at the northern end of the neighbourhood.

Selhurst is named after the Anglo Saxon for "dwelling in a wood". Evidence of a Saxon settlement was found when the railways station was built. Later, the land was owned by Henry VIII.

Heavers Meadow is an open space covering an area of 8.75 acres (0.014 sq mi/0.035 km²) with a footpath through a flood meadow[1].

The composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912) lived at 30 Dagnall Park. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived on Tennison Road.
