Seldom Seen Roadhouse

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Seldom Seen Roadhouse (37°24′S, 147°30′E)is a remote locality in the Snowy Mountains in the north-east of Victoria, Australia. It is on an un-sealed road between the Alpine National Park and the Snowy River National Park and close to the Snowy River (pictured here at McKillop's Bridge near Seldom Seen Roadhouse). It is located in the Shire of East Gippsland.

The area, including the roadhouse and the nearby settlements of Gelantipy, Wulgulmerang, Black Mountain and Suggan Buggan, was burnt out in the bushfires of January/February 2003 . The roadhouse at Seldom Seen was still trading in March 2005 but from a caravan. Before the bushfires it was a fairly typical 1960s-era petrol station.
