Selby College is located on the outskirts of Selby, and has a wide catchment area mainly in North Yorkshire, but also stretching into the East Riding of Yorkshire. Selby College is an Associate College of the University of Hull, and has recently been undergoing a comprehensive 3 phase redevelopment plan, which has involved construction of new buildings to supplement facilities. With 2 out of the 3 buildings completed, this is well underway.

Selby College is a Tertiary Education College offering both sixth form provision through its specialist 'A'Level Academy and a wide range of work-related vocational courses.

Selby College has consistenly proven itself to be one of England's Top Performing Colleges, with students achieveing some of the highest examination results in the country. Selby College also recently swept the board after being described as "outstanding" in all five areas of inspection by Ofsted.

Selby College offers different levels of learning from Entry Level right up to Foundation Degree courses.

The College's growing reputation has meant that we now attract students from across North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

It is the first college in Yorkshire and the Humber region to be awarded the accolade of being graded an Outstanding College by Ofsted and one of only ten in the UK to have achieved a complete set of five grade one scores.^[1]

In August 2007, Selby College received news that their £32m new campus vision would become a reality, when they learned they had been awarded a Learning and Skills Council grant to build new state of the art buildings that will complement the two existing new buildings. The new buildings will comprise a massive new teaching facility, incorporating more subject specific teaching rooms, (equpped with the very latest whiteboard, visual aid and ICT technologies) a new Reception area, Refectory, Teaching Kitchen, Restaurant, and Hair and Beauty Salon. The two storey building will also incorporate new science laboratories, recreational sports facilities and more social facilities for students.

Further new buildings will include a new Construction and engineering training facility and a new media facility. This final phase of campus development is expected to begin in the Summer of 2008 and be completed in the Summer of 2010.

June 2006 saw the opening of the new £2.5 million Renaissance Building, a brand new building designed to house the Art, Fashion and Design and the Health and Social Care Departments of Selby College.

September 2004 led to the final completion and opening of the £4 million Academy building to house a new library (The LRC), as well as extensive IT facilities, and the majority of the colleges' A-Level classes.

Selby College has continued to develop the range of courses on offer and introduced in 2006/07 Construction Apprenticeship Programmes. Other new course include Higher Education Foundation Degrees, Construction courses, Religious Education, Music and Performing Arts.

Selby College Renaissance Building

Selby College provides vocational courses for 14 to 16 year olds still in school. These courses include GCSE and NVQ's in Engineering, Construction, Administration, Health and Social Care, and Hairdressing. The college also provides a wide range of A Level and vocational courses.

Selby is planning to provide both Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees from 2007.

Selby College has some of the best examination results in the country, with an overall A Level pass rate in 2007 of 98% compared with a national 96% achievement rate.^[2] Students gained 100% in 17 out of 27 subjects. Likewise, vocational programmes offered at the college are higher than national achievement rates with a 100% overall achievement rate in sixteen separate subjects. 98% of Selby College students completed their programme of study compared to a national average of 65%.^{[citation needed]}
