[edit] History

The concept of Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi or Integrated Boarding School was first proposed on 2002 by Tan Sri Musa Mohamad, the then Minister of Education. This type of school provides three academic streams for its students; Islamic science, science and technical. On that time, students who wanted to pursue their studies in the Islamic science stream needed to attend religious schools. Since the establishment of this concept, the government had successfully cater a larger number of students to pursue their studies in Islamic science stream.

Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gombak started its operation on December of 2002. The first group of students registered on the 17th of February 2003. During that time, there were only 14 teaching staffs that catered for 162 students of form 4 and form 1. After 4 years of its establishment, in 2007, the school holds 601 students and 65 teaching staffs.
