The Leadership Group are in place to serve members, and to ensure that the group behaves in the way that you want them to. Their responsibilities, and conditions of office, are as follows.

The overall co-ordinator of the group.

[edit] Responsibilities

  • To call and preside over elections.
  • To assent all motions going through the council, and ensure they are enacted.
  • To appoint a Vice-President.
  • To nominate clerks.
  • To appoint a Presidential Councillor.

[edit] Term of Office

Unlimited, until resignation. After resignation, an election will be held to replace the president.

[edit] Vice-President

The deputy co-ordinator of the group.

[edit] Responsibilities

  • To assume the duties of president during his incapacity.
  • To lead the Clerks of the group.

[edit] Term of Office

Appointed personally by the President, until retirement or removal by the President.
The vice-president should not be contested if he would like to become President after the retirement of an incumbant President, although there is no rule to enforce this etiquete.

[edit] Councillors

Elected representitives of members of the group.

[edit] Responsibilities

  • To bring motions to the attention of the council.
  • To vote on motions.
  • To listen to query's of other members.
  • To ensure members act within the policy of Wikipedia and in the policy of this group (when such a policy is put in place by the council)

[edit] Term of Office

Elected every year, in tranches of three. Elections are therefore held every four months.
A resigning councillor will be replaced in a by-election, called by the president.
The Presidential Councillor is appointed in a different way, and has the special role of presiding over the election of a new President, and is therefore disqualified from being a candidate for the Presidency, and cannot be appointed to the position of Vice Presidency immediately after being in this role.

[edit] Clerks

The 'handymen' of the group.

[edit] Responsibilities

  • To archive old motions from the council.
  • To act as election staff during council elections.
  • To keep a general eye on the cleanliness of the group.

[edit] Term of Office

Clerks are nominated by the President, and are then approved/rejected by the full council.
If accepted, they are allowed to serve for up to eight months in their position, and they cannot then seek re-selection into the same position.
They can, however, seek re-election into one of the two other clerk positions in the group.

[edit] Other Points

  1. Each division of the group has its own sub-leader who is appointed by the council leader. They serve until they are removed from office by a full-council motion or resign.
  2. Any member has the right to approach a councillor and ask for a motion to be put to council.
  3. The role of the President and Vice President cannot be changed by council motion.
  4. The President, Vice President and Clerks do not have a vote in council.
