They fight for a standard of living that allows workers to raise a family that can own a house, have affordable medical care, education for themselves and their children, and a stable retirement. It is an organization that led the rally cry for the deinstitutionalization of people with developmental disabilities. 1199 is known nation wide as a union who stands up for justice in the world beyond its sphere of influence to make the United States a better place to live.
