Sefton is a suburb of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Sefton is located 23 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Bankstown and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.
Sefton shares the post code of 2162 with the neighbouring suburb of Chester Hill.

The name Sefton was taken from aSefton in London, England. James Wood gave the name 'Sefton Park' to the 340 acres (1.4 km²) of land granted to him in 1839. Prior to subdivision, Sefton was an area of market gardens, orchards and poultry farms.[1]
[edit] Transport and Commercial Area
Sefton railway station is on the Inner West Line of the CityRail network. There is a small shopping centre clustered around the railway station including Sefton Growers Market,Sefton Newsagency and a Thai/Australian Bistro adjacent to the newsagency.

There are 3 Schools in Sefton which are Sefton Infants School and Sefton High School.
Sefton Infants is a small Infants school catering for years Kindergarten to Year 2 and also includes a preeschool.
Immaculate Heart of Mary is a Catholic primary school for Kindergarten to Year 6 students.
Sefton High School is a Co-educational, partially selective, high school with just over 1000 students. Sefton's Selective school section goes from year's 7 - 10 and years 11 - 12 are integrated into the community section of the school

A number of sporting facilities are located around Sefton. This includes Jensen Oval and Sefton Golf Course. Sefton Golf Course [1] is a council owned golf course set on 15.6 hectares. Sefton Golf Course is a par 3 18 hole course which is open all year round.

In the 2006 Australian Census, Sefton recorded a population of 5 390 and a large percentage of residents were born overseas (40.4%) which is typical of the Bankstown area and the South Western Suburbs of Sydney. Sefton, like the rest of the Bankstown region, is a culturally diverse community speaking over 60 different languages. The most common countries of birth other than Australia include Viet Nam(12.4%) and Lebanon(6.6%)[2]

At the State level, Sefton is part of the electoral district of Auburn. At the Federal level, Sefton is part of the electoral Division of Blaxland.
