Info "See the Day" (help·info)

In 2005, Girls Aloud made a cover version of the song, which they later released as a single. The single was released only five weeks after their previous single "Biology" leading to confusion as to which track was in fact a released single. Perhaps due to this, it became their lowest placing single at the time, charting at #9, now a joint low with their 18th single release, Can't Speak French, from their 4th studio album Tangled Up, which also charted at #9 on 23 March 2008. The single spent only 6 weeks in the UK Top 75 Singles Chart and 8 weeks in the Ireland Top 50. On 16 June 2006 Girls Aloud won the Heart Award for "See the Day" at the O2 Silver Clef Lunch, an annual awards honouring song writing and performance in aid of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, members of the band, attended the awards presentation ceremony.

Lucy Benjamin performed a version of "See the Day" on Celebrity X Factor that was credited as "Girls Aloud". Following the final and Benjamin's victory, the single re-entered the Top 200.

Cheryl Cole stated in January 2008 that the song was only put out because they were stuck for ballads. "I wish we hadn't released See The Day. I absolutely hate that track, I don't think it's us at all, it's really old fashioned."[1]

The video for "See the Day" featured the members of Girls Aloud clad in frilly white dresses in an icy winter setting, sitting and lying in snow (which was actually salt) as digitised snowflakes fell from the starry black sky.

Occasionally words from the chorus of the song were spelt in the sky with stars as the shot is pulled back.

Group shots were tableau-like, and occasionally the shot pulled back to reveal that the girls were inside of a snowglobe being held in Sarah's hand.

The video was shot by the same director of "Biology" and in the same studio.
