Hey Secret/Archive5! Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. To my amazement there were no negative or neutral votes and the result was (28/0/0). I am now an administrator so I'll try and do my best in this new position. I'll be happy to answer any comments or requests from you. Thanks one more time, Mihai -talk 20:25, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] That's Cool

I was trying to make a better 50 Cent article. These users are putting too much rhetroic in the article among other things. Also when you look at The Game's article you see that inappropriate nonsense as well as the Aftermath Entertainment article. These users sure know how to turn an article into the open opinion, still we've fought the battle and eventually retiring is soon. I'll be ready for retirement when that user (by which we know as MostWanted05) and the Wiki-editors allow the POV of The Game and 50 Cent continue! Good luck in the fight against vandalism. I will make this the last go around. Thanks. LILVOKA. 14 December 2005

Hello, fellow Esperanzians! This is just a friendly reminder that elections for Administrator General and two advisory council positions have just begun. [edit] Admin nomination

Sure; thanks for asking! That's fine. I'll be out of town starting on Thursday though, so we should wait until I'm back. I probably won't be able to edit much (if at all) while I'm gone. I want to be here while my RfA is going on, so that if anyone has questions, I can answer them promptly. I'll have a notice on my user page while I'm away.

I changed my "nominated by an existing admin" criterion on my user page a few weeks ago, and I updated my Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Standards entry today to reflect that (thanks for reminding me; I forgot). Basically, I was just saying that I wanted to be nominated by somebody who the community knows and can trust. They don't necessarily have to be an admin, though that does help if they are. Most of the people at WP:NA would be fine nominators, as long as they're good editors (haven't been banned or caused any trouble recently).

Several people have recently asked me whether or not I was an admin, and one guy emailed me a few days ago and said, (paraphrasing) "You're a sysop. Please unblock me." So it might be good to take care of that by making me one. :-) --Idont Havaname 05:02, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

I'll be out of town until about the 29th. While I'm gone, I'll have a note on my user page. That way, you'll know when I'm back. --Idont Havaname 03:59, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RfA nomination

That is indeed a very gracious offer from you, especially considering I voted to oppose your last nomination. Perhaps I'm shooting myself in the foot for disclosing that, but I always feel it's best to be forthright. If you decide to continue with the nomination, I shall accept. Thank you. howcheng [ tcwe ] 08:40, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RfC

Hello, you decided that this RfC is valid. It is voiced now that it is not the case. I guess the reason for this situation is that there is some mess with regard of what people put into what section. As I am the one who filed in the request and I have very little experience with this kind of procedure, I feel like I am not in the position to sort it out. [edit] Greg Landry

Nice job Jorge, glad to see you are starting to edit too. Just a word of caution, be careful with copy right violations. It's alright to use newspaper reports as source material but you should rewrite the information in your own words. I notice some of the paragraphs in your article are verbatum cut and paste. you should try and clean those up before another editor puts your article up for speedy delete. David D. [edit] Vandalism check please

Hi Aranda. I thought of you to ask as you closed this AFD.

I have recently noticed an anon user who has questionable edits that are introducing a lot of speculation in to articles. I noticed today on Papoose (rapper) he changed one word from "sickest" to "dickest", and then added an unconfirmed claim. Whilst I couldn't see anything wrong with what he said, images of the John Seigenthaler Sr. controversy sprung to mind.

Please can you check out his contributions. [1] Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 10:22, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Pleeease! Or should I put this on the Admin noticeboard? Sorry, I am not sure of normal protocol for this. I can ask someone else if you are too busy. Please respond though. Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 17:10, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fact checking

I just got through cleaning up the "1985" section on the Chevrolet Nova article. I noticed that you added a lot of false info to that section, such as your statement that the '85 Nova had a Mazda engine. If the '85 Nova was a rebadged Toyota, why would it have a Mazda engine? Next time, check your facts... --ApolloBoy 23:16, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stephanie Zavala Article

I have to disagree with you on this article. Boot Camp facts aside, this girl does not rate an article on Wikipedia even if every other word in is true. 85% of the article speaks to cancer treatment. If we say that she rates a page then so do the other 15,000 people wounded/injured in Iraq and every individual who has survived cancer. The "famous" claim cannot be backed up since you cannot find information anywhere on the net to back it up. There is also the issue of an enlisted Marine becoming "intimate" with her Captain? That is a chargeable offense if real and unless it can be backed up it should not be printed. Interested to hear what you have to say. Regards. --Looper5920 05:46, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User:71.244.86.178

There is an ongoing dispute in relation to the recent ban for alleged sock puppeting of User:Taxwoman who is accused of being a sock puppet of User:RachelBrown. User:71.244.86.178 edited the text of an image uploaded by Taxwoman, Image:BON11.JPG, which was captioned "A friend of Taxwoman" to change it to read "Rachel Brown". As there is no linkage between Taxwoman and Rachel Brown other than this, there is a strong suspicion that this image may have been edited by someone involved in the dispute, i.e. either User:Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters or User:SlimVirgin. Whilst it is obviously not normal proceedings to do a CheckUser against an administrator, I thought that I would advise you about who this vandal might be. [edit] Alcatraz postcard

OK, I had scanned and posted a scaled-down version of a postcard I got in 1965 or so. Does it qualify as fair use if it's a smaller-than-life-size copy? Or is it unfair use? Wahkeenah 19:45, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, now I'm even more confused. I scanned the postcard, I did not get it from a link, so I own the scan, but the image should be owned by whoever produced the postcard, right? So I might argue for "fair use", but I don't see how I can claim "public domain". Please explain further. Wahkeenah 22:57, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

How do you suggest I define the "source"? That is, if you had scanned and uploaded a postcard image, how would you tag it? Wahkeenah 23:00, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Can I ask if you are checking with uploaders before deleting untagged images?. there was a lot of ill-feeling last time around when editors were not given the chance to verify often valid images, which were deleted without any direct warning.
