[edit] Ivy Graduate Summit

This meeting brings together the student governments of 45,000 graduate students. I'm not sure how this is not relevant, at least compared to the unelected attendance of the Ivy Leadership Summit. Raulrodriguez60 —Preceding comment was added at 23:47, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject_Pwn

Yes, the guy who started this page is clearly up to no good. Still, I thought your speedy was a little severe, and a bit disrepectful to me, who carefully set up a deletion discussion Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Pwn after trying to assume some good faith--it's possible that Project Pwn might not have been intended for pure vandalism, but might be intended for editors interested in a specific bit of popular slang. In these cases, it's better to let the discussion run its course and invoke WP:SNOWBALL after a day or two. Also, you should quit being so sore about the Mzoli (sp?) Meats thing. Bygones.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 04:07, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Nope it's obvious promotion of adding the word "pwn" to articles, also I'm not quitting, just article writing for here to veropedia (I would have been long gone if veropedia doesn't exist and a inclusionist attack on AFDs haven't happened). I'm obviously avoiding jimbo and friends though. Jbeach56 19:04, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey Jbeach, I created this project to put the word "pwn" wherever appropriate, such as in the leet page, discussion pages for games like Counter Strike, and of course the pwn page. So why did you jump to conclusions without asking me for intentions? --Chinese3126 00:21, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hi, stranger!

Wow, is it ever good to hear from you! I can't blame you for pulling your hair out over this site. I'm doing the same.

I'd asked to be de-adminned, so yes, I guess I can always reclaim the mop and broom. It's just that I don't want to go through the pure h**l I did under the Lucky 6.9 account which you'll see in the edit history. Even without the mop and broom, I'm still doing NPP, especially since I'm running out of original contribution ideas. Case in point: Uncle Don's Toys. Thought it met notability standards, but it's more of a WP:LOCAL problem. Oh, well. I'm laying low and doing some general cleanup on my old articles, but I'm just not ready to butt heads with users with large chips on their shoulders.

Please tell me what I need to do to sign up for Veropedia. I can think of a slew of articles including some "fallen features" I'd like to add over there which have been butchered over here.

I can't tell you how nice it is to hear from you. I'm looking forward to learning more about Veropedia. Have a great weekend! --PMDrive1061 23:50, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Revert

Going around and editing other people's comments on a talk page, essentially on a whim (these people are well aware WP:BADSITES has been rejected by the community) is certainly a form of vandalism in my book. If you don't think so, try to explain that to the editor who made the original comment. I already have, but perhaps you can do better. Attempting to stifle what people can say to Mr. Wales is embarrassing to the project and problematic in a lot of ways beyond normal shenanigans, IMHO. -- 146.115.58.152 04:09, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Cosy jo

Can you take the time to talk to this user since you deleted the article they created? You didn't leave a note on their talk page to either welcome them or notify them of the deletion. You replied to their note on the Help desk with a curt "See WP:MUSIC", which I'm sure is not going to help a brand new user. When they asked here on your talk page, you removed their question with no explanation. This user made what appeared to be a good faith contribution, I think they should be appropriately assisted if you are going to perform the deletion of that contribution. Leebo T/C 04:48, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I gave her the guideline that it fails, I always revert or ignored unsigned comments by the top and I always give a reason for deleting in the summary unless it's obvious. Jbeach sup 04:50, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

About that reason, I don't think you can say it didn't assert Peppercorn's notability. It said she is signed by BMG. Here's a review of the album mentioned in the article. Here's another. I think it should be undeleted. Leebo T/C 04:54, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of Rockabilia

Trying to find out why this is up for deletion when it falls in the same category as interpunk, hottopic etc. This company can be found in Introducing Sociolinguistics by Rajend Mesthrie, Joan Swann, Anna Deumert, and William Leap. The no widely used adopted word rockabilia on Page 17: "... language. An example comes from the modern use of -bilia to mean `collectible things associated with the past', as in rockabilia ('rock music of the past') ..." in this book came from the company name Rockabilia. It can also be found in Music Online for Dummies by David Kushner a Spin magazine paperback, in four sections of the book: 1. on Page 108: "... com Collectibles Rockabilia www. rockabi 1 i a . com Jukeboxes Jukeboxes, Etc. www. j ukeboxesetc . ..." 2. from Index: "... D-19 rock music bias on Web, 249, 250 Rockabilia Web site, D-5 Rolling Stone e-zine, 272 online e-zine, 24 Web site, 223, D-19 Roots World Web site, D-21 The ..." 3. from Index: "... RioPort, D-12 music clubs, D-14 ripper software, 169 music videos, D-14 rock and pop, D-18, D-19 MusicFile, 98, 99, D-1610 Rockabilia, D-8 Musician online, 272 Rolling Stone, ..." 4. from Back Matter: "... The perfect place to shop for posters - whether you're lining your dorm room or your high school locker. Rockabilia www.rockabilia.com 10 Rock 'n' roll memorabilia: Looking for a backstage pass from the original Woodstock or a Grateful Dead mousepad? ..."

I feel this deletion is completely unjustified.

[edit] Reform and opening up

Since I see you speedied this yesterday and I'm not sure why, I wanted to tell you I've recreated it as a redirect to History of the People's Republic of China (1976–1989)#Reform and opening up. "Reform and opening up" is a direct translation of the Chinese phrase used to refer to the policies adopted during this time; even in English, it's an extremely common phrase and almost always refers to this specific period of China's history (Find sources: Reform and opening upnews, books, scholar). Out of its 230k GHits, there's under a few thousand which are not referring to this concept [5]. Cheers, cab 01:47, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Screaming Pepe

Why did you delete this? The page is not nonsense. It needed to be updated, but I was just following wikis guidelines to put stubs in place and let people edit the article. I admit there needs to be sources, but this is a relatively new and underground social phenomenon. I figured the community would fill in the blanks. Can the page be undeleted? I put a significant amount of time into the page, and I think the community can decide about its legitimacy. It was deleted so quickly I don't think it was ever given a fair chance to "get on its feet". Thanks, JMunk1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmunk1 (talk • contribs) 16:18, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Seriously the article has no chance of surviving AFD, no google hits, and it's mostly nonsense, and you know it. Wikipedia isn't the place for drinking games that you or your friends created. Take it to WP:DRV, in which my deletion would likely be endorsed. Jbeach sup 17:29, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

It is not a drinking game. You don't even know what it is. To make a long story short, it was started in Santa Barbara, CA and I've randomly been encountered it among strangers in both Chicago and New York. Once may be a coincidence, but twice? Anyways I don't see why you go around deleting things on which you are not the expert. That is not an uncivil accusation, it is a judgment I am making based on the evidence of your last post which falsely describes the SP. Please save deletion for things on which you are informed. [edit] Removal of Information from Fred Nile

Your recent edits to Fred Nile removed a significant amount of information. Granted, there was some need for more citations but that's a cue to add them, not remove the information. Anyone at all familiar with the Rev. Nile and his views would not find any of those quotes at all out of character and, as such, citing WP:BLP is not enough reason to remove them. (As luck would have it, I easily found sources for all those claims.)

What's more, you cannot dismiss a perfectly good reference just because of the publication it appears in. Yes, the Green Left Weekly is biased but so is every newspaper. Unless Nile has accused them of misquoting him in that article, you should not simply remove the quote.

Please try to assume good faith in the future. Nick 19:02, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfDs are not like what?

The AfD for Brunswick South Primary School has become long and convoluted and hard to follow, and it was re-formatted to make it easier to follow and to make contributions to. Whether or not AfD's have looked this way in the past should not necessarily determine the way they look in the future. If you can provide a way of formatting this AfD that renders it as easy to follow and edit as the formatting that has been done by me and others, then please do so, or alternatively please provide an explanation for keeping such important processes opaque and therefore exclusionary. We can then have a sensible discussion about what the purpose of any way of formatting is rather than getting bogged down in reversions for the sake of some unexplained sense of 'tradition'.Eyedubya 20:53, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Other average editors seemed to like the reformatting. When the content takes up more than a page, it becomes hard to find one's place to insert a comment. The unstructured version also means that the shape of the discussion is hard to follow. Your version of the format means that the average editor will have to trawl through a rather repetitive discussion and is more likely than not to repeat the errors of assertion rather than argument already perpetrated within this AfD, thus making 'consensus' harder to reach. There are only a limited number of issues in this AfD and using sub-headings made this clear how repetitive many of the points were (especially those of the deletionists). Its length is way over its actual content, from an intellectual point of view. You haven't convinced me that your reverts have done anything positive for the debate, only muddied the already cloudy waters. Eyedubya 21:05, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
  • I for one strongly approved of the modifications to the AfD page. Moreover, wikipedia is about innovation - there is no policy on how AfDs should be formatted that was breached by this formatting. See WP:BOLD : The Wikipedia community encourages users to be bold when updating articles. I did not regard the formatting changes as reckless in any way - not least when the heading levels were formatted to the necessary depth to allow transclusion on pages. --Golden Wattle talk 22:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

It seems like you saw more keeps than delete, that indicates consensus right there, but that isn't the case, also I closed the AFD, and I needed to clafify it better, okish was a bad word for it, do not revert. This is a Secret account 03:18, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Please, if you can show me where it says the closer can modify it, go ahead. [edit] Bob Lonsberry

I am quite suprised that the you deleted the article for Bob Lonsberry. Lonsberry is a fairly well known radio talk show host in upstate New York, all of Utah, and to an extent nationwide. I don't think it makes sense to delete an article because you feel parts of it are poorly written, that's like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. You did not nominate the article for deletion and as far as I can tell there was no discussion, you simply unilaterally decided to delete it.

Please reinstate this article. If you feel the writing was so bad, you can simply bring it back as a stub. Something like "Bob Lonsberry is a conservative radio host with a commentary show broadcasting daily in Salt Lake City, Utah and Rochester, New York."

Thanks. --Keithn 19:25, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I deleted it because it was a major WP:BLP concern, I checked google, not much in WP:RS or WP:V, just blogs, trivial mentions, and non-independent websites, and without these sources, an article can't be created. Nothing in google news nither. Thanks This is a Secret account 19:32, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Did you really check Google news? Because I see at least 103 articles articles that mention him. And if you check Google, you see 14,600 results. He is a pretty well known radio host, a columnist, and he is the author of a few books. I think deleting this article was a mistake. The most you should have done in my opinion is nominate it for deletion so that a consensus could have been reached. Again, I urge you to restore the article. --Keithn 20:26, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

It seems that you decided to delete the PADD article, despite any consensus. Anarchist42 18:37, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Well AFD isn't a vote, non of the keep votes had a policy based comment, consensus is when based on policy, not counting heads This is a Secret account 18:39, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

I didn't see you contribute very much to any actual discussion about policy, just a sudden deletion with no attempt to clean up the mess you left behind. I suggest that you reconsider your unilateral deletion. Anarchist42 01:25, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jagger article

Thanks for the wreckless edits you performed. You didn't even both cleaning up what little you left behind. Stan weller 20:39, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Archimonde

Do you really believe there was a consensus in favor of deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Archimonde? I'm not at all certain the article should have been kept, but I think there should have been at least some reply to the keep comments (in my humble opinion, especially mine). Sakkura 22:19, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

2-2, both of the deletes had a policy based reason, I threw out one of the two keeps as an unvalid agruement, and your's did have merit, but the delete was stronger 2-1 is in delete consensus. Thanks This is a Secret account 05:44, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category:European American baseball players

As long as there is a Category:African American baseball players, or Category:African American anything...I demand equal and fair treatment. I want Latin American ____, Asian American _____, thanks. Check Category talk:European American baseball players for list of European, Latin, and Asian cats.

[edit] Thank You

Thank you for welcoming me. Just wondering if there was any reason I stood out. Jaob 05:38, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion review on PADD

An editor has asked for a deletion review of PADD. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review.

Don't know what's up with this "an editor" stuff; I listed the review. I want to use the template so I can follow whatever policies there are for Deletion Review. Anyway, I noticed this article on a core element of the Star Trek universe was deleted, and I thought it shouldn't have been deleted. The reasons given in the AfD discussion were valid, but deletion wasn't necessary; the article just needed OR cleanup. I've explained more at the DR listing. [edit] Closing AFDs

Hey, just a friendly reminder to make sure you always remove the categorization template when closing AFDs. Pagrashtak —Preceding comment was added at 18:47, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Austin Phantom Manhunt

I removed the part about the gun store stand off being in its 8th hour and just stated the facts that have happened and how it might be connected. Trying to not make it a news event per wiki's rules. This is a big story in Austin, as was the phantom manhunt of the previous week. Lots of sources for it, too. I only removed the first tag because it said to remove it if edits are made that fix the problem. Not sure what other objections there are. Thanks. Oddibe 18:59, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

I know I could've sent you this months before, but thanks so much for supporting my successful RfA. I'm humbled to have the community's trust. [edit] User:Rafff18

I'm currently considering his unblock request after comments that he made on my talk page(see here) but before I do anything I would like to here your side of the story. --Chris 08:56, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

He was a disruptive Single-Purpose account used only for edit warning, don't unblock. Thanks

Secret in a public computer 131.94.55.81 15:30, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

He also wouldn't stop using sock and meatpuppets when blocked the first time for only 24 hours for violating WP:3RR. Bmg916Speak 15:34, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

secret my account was not a single purpose account, it might be new but I had made edits to several articles besides the screwjob which you would see if you looked at my history, the reason why I made edits to that article was because it was going to be the days feater and I did not want there to be such a large amount of pro hart bias. I do not see how restoring agreed on and sourced information that was deleted without a good reason counts as being disruptive or using the account only for edit wars. Bmg916 despite what you and Scorpion0422 told secret, I never used a sockpuppet and I did not ask my friend to do the edits so he was not a meatpuppet. [edit] RfA

I considered not spamming talk pages but not saying "thanks" just isn't me. The support was remarkable and appreciated. I only hope that I am able to help a little on here. Please let me know if I can help you or equally if you find any of my actions questionable. Thanks & regards --Herby talk thyme 12:26, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Myron Rolle

Rolle is certainly notable enough for Wikipedia. He was the No. 1 high school prospect in the nation in 2006 per ESPN. He received various ACC and freshman All-American honors as a true freshman starter for FSU in 2006. In addition he received many preseason honors and was on the Bednarik Award watch list. He is easily notable enough.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:34, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Many high ranked high school players never make the pros, and same with freshman All-Americans This is a Secret account 19:35, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay that's lovely. But he's still notable enough. The NFL is not the cutoff for notable football players.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:37, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

There is consensus for those types of players who isn't a prospect yet, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Marve and a few others comes to mind This is a Secret account 19:38, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Well Rolle clearly doesn't fall into the same category that player did. Like someone on that page said, if you delete Myron Rolle you'd have to delete Jimmy Clausen. Rolle was just as big a high school prospect, is playing for a BETTER team and is far more accomplished in college than Clausen. Sorry, but Rolle is just easily notable as a college athlete. I will not let the page be deleted, because it's wrong.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:45, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Bleh Classen should be AFD as well, doing horrible for Norte Dame This is a Secret account

Well thanks for admitting you don't have any good reasons for your opinions in matters such as these. Guess this conversation's over.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:48, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User talk:12.75.66.251

This user is caught in a range block you put up. Could you please look at the page? The Evil Spartan (talk) 20:24, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Dear god don't unblock, it's a non-shared IP used by one of wikipedia most notorious banned users, User:Jon Awbrey. This is a Secret account 20:27, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Actually, it's a /16 range, which could quite easily be shared. I actually think you might be right on this instance, though it's hard to tell either way. But a /16 range is certainly going to be shared by more than one person. The Evil Spartan (talk) 00:40, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
