[edit] Can someone

Can someone find out his real name? Benjwong (talk) 19:33, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

WP:NOTABLE? Yunfeng (talk) 19:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Another blog post? Nice try. This guy is a minor curiosity. He does not deserve his own page. Yunfeng (talk) 19:45, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
I think it's interesting, and minor curiosities might still be notable. I cannot read Chinese, so it is hard to find sources. Phlegm Rooster (talk) 19:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
The Bus Uncle who became some crazy phenomenon also has his own page. I see no reason why this guy is not notable. Benjwong (talk) 02:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Ben, the Bus Uncle incident is really, really famous, inside and outside of HK. There are thousands and thousands of Youtube hits on his video. This is a curiosity that has shown up on a few blogs that deal in curiosities and in a handful of non-notable newspapers. Read the notability guideline again. Yunfeng (talk) 14:24, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
You just need to look at the right place. Try 56.com and other more mainland oriented sites. Youtube is not a good place as it is believed to be blocked in the mainland. Most English sites have a poor celebrities coverage in the east. Your reason for the notability tag is not realistic. Benjwong (talk) 16:04, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Ben. Do not take the notability tag off. I understand that if I spend hours digging around on Chinese-language sites I will find pictures of this guy. That does not meet the standard for English wikipedia. One more time with the tag and I will nominate you for 3rr. Yunfeng (talk) 16:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Wait, that seems quite contradictory. Is like you can find info on this guy, but you'll rather not. So let's purposely pretend he is not a celebrity, and tag it as non-notable?? Come on this is silly. Benjwong (talk) 18:52, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I can find stuff on him - it's just that all of it is from non-notable sources and not in English. He's not a celebrity, and he doesn't deserve his own wikipedia page. Yunfeng (talk) 18:55, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
But I don't see why you say he is not a celebrity. China's culture is very offline. But the time people are curious about you in the forums, you are already famous. Benjwong (talk) 19:11, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
China's culture is offline? Really? I think if anything he's probably a pretty much pure internet phenomenon. Yunfeng (talk) 19:13, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
You really should just tell us more about PRC culture if you are such an expert. I'd like to hear your view. Benjwong (talk) 00:23, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't appreciate your sarcasm. Your initial comment was pretty dumb. This is an internet phenomenon. Yunfeng (talk) 13:59, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
What sarcasm? I was asking you to tell us more about the culture if you claim to be an expert. I can think of things that generate 0 hits on google and baidu. China's culture is pretty offline. Benjwong (talk) 21:09, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
This is idiotic. Obivously there are things that aren't on the internet. NOT THIS. THIS IS A F*CKING INTERNET PHENOMENON. Are you arguing that it isn't? What are you arguing? Yunfeng (talk) 21:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't understand why you're so upset. The article saids "national phenomenon". He got famous via the olympics. The internet is just a place where people talk about him alot. His fame did not entirely come from youtube or 56.com. I am just saying there maybe alot of opinions of him not available online, like the rest of China's culture. Perhaps you are taking it the wrong way. Benjwong (talk) 01:04, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[reset indent] Perhaps you are pretending to be stupid. You seem like a serious person and I thought this kind of bs would have been below you. Yunfeng (talk) 01:10, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

What you mean? I was hoping you were going to say something more intelligent like.... this guy will never have his name revealed online cause he works technically for the chinese government or something. Instead you were calling me an idiot and waiting for more sources. You are tagging this with a notability tag as if big western media will report him. He is not controversial enough for most people outside of China to care. Benjwong (talk) 01:22, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
There's nothing wrong with having an article on an internet phenomenon if it is notable enough. You should consider asking for a third opinion. Phlegm Rooster (talk) 22:09, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

He's getting worldwide media attention (http://www.theage.com.au/news/web/hes-hot-to-trot/2008/05/07/1209839706971.html) so I don't think his notability can be doubted. If Ceiling cat is notable so is SRB - and he's much cuter. Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 09:54, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
