Talk:Second Geneva Convention
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the context of the Geneva Conventions timeline:
- First Geneva Convention of 1864 on the treatment of battlefield casualties
- Second Geneva Convention of 1906 extending the first convention to war at sea
- Third Geneva Convention of 1929 on the treatment of prisoners of war
- Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 on the treatment of civilians during wartime
this paragraph of the Second Geneva Convention article:
- It was written and adopted at the diplomatic conference held at Geneva from April 21 to August 12, 1949, for the purpose of revising the Hague Convention of 1907 for the Adaptation to Maritime Warfare of the Principles of the Geneva Convention of 1906.
seems to provide the date of the Fourth Geneva Convention instead of the Second, and explains that it extends the Second (1906) instead of the First Geneva Convention. It also explains that the purpose of the Second Geneva Convention (1906) was revising the Hague Convention of 1907 (a year later). I am removing that facts that are inconsistent.
