Section Eight Productions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Section Eight Productions is a movie studio founded in 2001 by film director Steven Soderbergh and film actor George Clooney. It produced the critical hits Far From Heaven, Insomnia, Syriana, A Scanner Darkly and Michael Clayton, as well as Clooney-directed films Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good Night, and Good Luck. With Soderbergh citing a desire to focus on directing, he and Clooney are reportedly planning to shut down Section Eight by the end of 2006. In 2005, Syriana and Good Night, and Good Luck picked up eight Oscars nominations between them.

George Clooney is to start another film production company named Smoke House Productions, with friend and long time production partner Grant Heslov. They also are adapting the 2003 novel Jennifer Government into a screenplay.[citation needed]
