- Hezbollah is run by a Secretary-General.
- In the Civil service of the Republic of Ireland, the highest civil servant in a government department is known as a Secretary-General. See also Permanent Secretary.
- In the Netherlands, the highest ranking civil servant of each ministry is also known as a Secretary-General (Secretaris Generaal)
- University of Santo Tomas, the General Secretary of the University is known as the Secretary General.
- Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, also known as the "Triskelion Grand Fraternity" of the Philippines, their highest ranking position is called a Secretary-General, sometimes General Secretary or GenSec for short.
