[edit] Plot
The museum is devoted to the Maya culture and will soon be exhibiting a monolith that had just been found, to the public. However, shortly before the exhibition, one of the museum's most treasured pieces, a jade carving of the Mayan King Pacal's head, is stolen. A little bit after that, one of the museum's translators falls off some steps, hits his head and gets amnesia. Nancy was working at the museum when this all happened and wants to know what happens. She gets permission from the museum curator to sleuth around because the police have no leads. This game takes place in Washington D.C.

[edit] Accidents
As with all Nancy Drew games, in Secret of the Scarlet Hand, there are many fatal accidents, such as:
- Getting electrocuted by HAM radio
- Dropping Mayan calendar stones
- Not using glowstick to get out of the tunnel
- Not escaping monolith in time and suffocating
However, if the player makes a mistake, they may click on "Second Chance" at the main menu and it will take them back to the place before they made that mistake.

[edit] Trivia
- When talking to Henrik about the Mayan Pot, one of your choices to say was "In the words of Nicholas Falcone, come on, spill it!" is a reference to Nicholas Falcone from The Final Scene.
- In Sonny Joon's notebook, he mentions a website where you can get walkthroughs for ND Games.
- Nancy's wallpaper on her laptop is a picture of her dog, Togo
- This is the first game where you can see the chocolate bar, "Koko Kringles". This is also the first game to feature the name "Krolmeister".
- Sonny Joon also is featured in Danger By Design as Minettes last assistant (when Nancy realised this, she said, "Wow, that guy gets around!"). A few hints in his doodles
