[edit] The Book

The film is based on the children's book by Arthur S. Maxwell (known to many readers as Uncle Arthur ) also titled Secret of the Cave 1951 ISBN 0816313172. The book has sold more than 142,000 copies worldwide in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Icelandic, Danish, and Swedish[1].

The film differs from the book in a few ways, considering the book was based in the 1950s and that the film is set in the

2000s. The book has Roy's two local friends as male, teenage brothers. The film has them as brother and sister.

The film also seems to suggest that Roy, the main character, is from America; whereas the book suggests that Roy is from Europe.[2]
