Secret Service members in Imran Series

The following fictional characters are official Secret Service members and helpers to the spy and crime-fighter Imran - the X-2 in the Imran Series of Urdu spy novels by Ibn-e-Safi.

[edit] Tahir/Black Zero

Tahir is perhaps the most important member of the Secret Service. He knows that Imran is X-2 and in Imran's absence he plays the role of X-2 to the rest of the Secret Service members.

In Darindon Ki Basti Imran realizes that his coworkers (mainly Juliana Fitzwater) are beginning to suspect his identity as being X-2. To permanently remove their suspicions he decides to appoint another member of the Secret Service. That member is codenamed "Black Zero". Another purpose of hiring Black Zero was to have a Secret Service member who stays in hiding from all the other members but assists them all the same. Unfortunately, the original Black Zero died in Darindon Ki Basti. However, the need for a Black Zero remained and Imran appointed Tahir for the job in Gumshuda Shehzaadi. All members of the Secret Service know him as Mr. Tahir who is the caretaker of Rana Palace. Tahir has also sometimes appeared as a masked X-2 in front of the Secret Service members. Black Zero has been trained to replicate X-2’s deep, hoarse voice; he gives orders to the Secret Service members, acting as X-2 when Imran is in the field working with his subordinates and unable to call directly. This has the dual effect of reassuring Imran’s team members that he is not X-2, a fact that almost everyone suspects at one time or other.

[edit] Juliana Fitzwater

Juliana is the only female member of the Secret Service in Ibn-e-Safi's Imran Series. She is of Swiss origin and has been living in Imran's country for a while now. She is fluent in French, German, Italian and English (as mentioned in Adhora Aadmi) and can also speak a little bit of Urdu. She serves as a coordinator for the team.

There was a time when she was in love with the mysterious X-2. However, as time passes she suspects that Imran is X-2. Although she never gets concrete evidence of this (as Imran often sits with them while speaking to Black Zero who is posing as X-2) she falls in love with Imran because her heart tells her that he is X-2. Her love for Imran often comes in way of her duties, for which she gets scolded by X-2. Imran continuously (sometimes harshly) plays with her emotions although he thinks of her as a dear friend all the same.

Safdar is Imran's most trusted field partner. Safdar never questions authority and is a man of action rather than words. This does not necessarily mean that he is not intelligent, he just does not like to get into unnecessary arguments and gives his 110% towards the completion of the task assigned to him.

It is an ironic fact that although Imran always argues and talks back to his peers, his favourite fieldworker is one who listens and obeys. This is in contrast to Colonel Faridi who is more of a quiet thinker but Hameed, who always argues and talks back to his peers, is his favorite subordinate.

Safdar is also the only field partner of Imran (apart from Imran) who does not have a crush on Juliana Fitzwater. He is also the only Secret Service member who is fluent in Shikrali (a language spoken in the tribal area of Shikral). Safdar respects Imran greatly and believes that Imran has similar qualities to those of X-2.

[edit] Tanveer Ashraf

He is the only member of the Secret Service who is jealous of Imran. This is primarily because he fails to understand why Juliana (who he has a crush on) loves Imran. His jealousy of Imran often gets in the way of his duty. His primary weaknesses are that he lacks patience and is very emotional. As a result, he has been punished by X-2 on occasion. Tanveer loves Juliana and hates Imran. Tanveer is the most trouble-making member of the Secret Service. He has, on many occasions, either received warnings or punishment from X-2 for his negligence on duty. Over and above his jealousy of Imran, on many occasions he has proven his worth. He was previously in military intelligence. He is more fond of direct action and is called "D-Agent".

[edit] Zafar-ul-Mulk

Zafar-ul-Mulk is one of two new members of the Secret Service who were introduced in Taboot Mein Cheekh. Zafrul Mulk is the nephew of Nawab Muzaffarul Mulk. He was sent to London for higher studies with his servant Jumman and secured a Master's degree in chemistry from Oxford University. When he returned, his uncle did not appreciate his modern ideas and asked him to leave home. His servant Jumman (now known as Jameson) was also expelled. Incidentally they got involved in a case and Imran discovered their strengths. They are offered the chance to join the Secret Service. Because of his similar physical structure, Imran sometimes uses Zafrul Mulk to disguise himself as Imran.

Jameson is one of two new members of the Secret Service who were introduced in Taboot Mein Cheekh. Jameson is very fond of Urdu classical literature and tries to speak the same language. Jameson was the servant of Zafar Ul Mulk.He also was an intelligent member of the Secret Service.

Captain Jaafari was expelled from the Secret Service due to negligence on duty in DarandoaN kie Baste.

Sergeant Nashad was expelled from the Secret Service due to negligence on duty in DarandoaN kie Baste. He also drinks.

Joseph is the servant of Imran.
