Secondo is a term of Italian origin used in the German speaking areas of Switzerland to denote someone who is the child of immigrants. Because of conservative Swiss citizenship law, these children are often unable to become citizens, and may feel marginalized. Itailan/Swiss rapper Marzelez discusses this issue in his track "World of Secondo".[1] It is important to note however, that as time passes and attitudes change, many younger Swiss are beginning to idealize the implied gloabalness and exoticism of Secondo, which, hopefully, will eventually lead to its eradication as a term of ostracization.[2]
