[edit] LSU Logo on LSU Tigers Football page
Regarding the LSU logo that I put on the LSU Tigers Football wiki page last night, I don't understand why you reverted it. You say that you want to keep the info box to the standard established by Wikiproject College Football. However, I don't think Wikiproject College Football is establishing a standard that must be followed, only "a set of standardized templates" that can be copied by others who want to make a football page for their team (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_College_football#Goals ).
Regardless, the dual helmet/logo format that you originally had on the LSU Tigers Football Page is not a very popular template. The only other three college football team pages that I can find who use it are:
However, the more popular format is the one I upgraded to, the single logo format. This format is used by all the major college football team pages, including:
- Florida State - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_State_Seminoles_football
Also, since this is the page for LSU Tigers Football, the more appropriate logo is the one used on the helmets of the LSU Tigers Football team (the logo I put on the page), not the general LSU atheletic logo (which you had on the page), which few people associate with LSU football.
[edit] Mythical National Championship
The template reads: "If you can address this concern by improving, copyediting, sourcing, renaming or merging the page, please edit this page and do so. You may remove this message if you improve the article, or if you otherwise object to deletion of the article for any reason."
If you object, remove the template. Simple as that. I have no problem with the article, as long as it is sourced. What you suggested (adding the {{unsourced}} tag) would be an acceptable replacement. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 00:03, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Les Miles LSU football head coach.jpg
Hey Seancp . There is a lively debate about use of promo photos on wikipedia. My name is Jeff and I Do not support the interpretation of WP:FU as implemented by user's like User:Chowbok. They believe that Wikipedia should be free of all promotional photos that are "replaceable with an equivalent" (i.e. an amateur photo from flickr). Their rationale is being debated in many places, and take it a step further believing that all promo photos should be deleted and let someone else deal with finding and uploading a free alternative.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use
- Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Fair_use specifically this thread
- Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Chowbok
- Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_comment/Chowbok
- User:Chowbok/Robth's_RFU_Explanation
- Image_Talk:Jennifer Granholm.jpg
And many other places I've no doubt missed.
I and many others who support use of fair use promotional photos have not been successful in changing the actions of Chowbok and rampant deletion and changing of many hundred's of useful images from Wikipedia articles continues. One good example is the Jennifer Granholm article which had a great promo photo replaced by a terrible photo. I seek to raise the profile of this issue through challenging promotional photos on high profile article's like this one. I'm sorry, really I am, but fair use policy as implemented by Chowbok has left me with few viable options.
I invite you to join the battle for Promotional Photo usage on Wikipedia and the protection of Fair Use concepts. --Jeff 08:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Paul Mainieri LSU Baseball Coach.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Paul Mainieri LSU Baseball Coach.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - crz crztalk 18:17, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Seancp. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:LSU logo.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:Seancp. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. [edit] College baseball
I'm definitely interested in writing some articles about NCAA baseball tournaments, or SEC tournaments. I can probably knock out some of the recent SEC tournaments easily. I'm a big fan of Mississippi State baseball myself.
[edit] LSU Stuff
Hey Man, I see that you have been editing a lot of the LSU pages. Check out the one for the 2007 LSU Tigers football team. I made a lot of changes. I would like to know what you think. I made the most recent change under the Games Notes section, added the score boxes and stat boxes, but not sure if I like it. Let me know what you think. If you like it I can go ahead and add them for every game. Change it in any way possible. --Sgautr6 14:57, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
UPDATE: Two things:
- On the LSU Tigers Football page, I think prominent players is getting out of hand. People will just keep adding and adding. I already see Jarrett Lee on there and he hasn't even played one down yet. There are only about ~35 players on there that have AA years beside their name, yet there are ~100 names on the list. if you are a fan every player is a "prominent" player. I suggest that we CHANGE the title to All Americans and add it under Individual Awards. Add a new section called Current NFL Players and create a table with the players who are currently in the NFL.
- Since you have done most of the work on the LSU Pages, just drop me a line and let me know if you have a list of things to update or not. If you have a list, shoot me like 5 of them and I will start working on them.
--Sgautr6 14:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- I totally agree with the players page. I do think there needs to be some restrictions on it though. Jarrett Lee and Demetrius Byrd are not prominent players. They are very well known, but have not played a game. I think we should limit it to players who have finished their career at LSU. Only add current players if they do receive an award. Again, I go back to the point that a true LSU fan can name a bunch of current players as well as former players since they started following the Tigers. As far as the other information like Statistics, records, etc the best I name I can come up with is LSU Tigers Football Supplemental Information. You can list all the stuff on it that you want, including prominent players if you didn't want to make a separate page for players. I would really like to see the page turn into something like the Oklahoma Sooners Football page. I think that page is written very well and organized well. It gives you a brief history, list of coaches, list of championships, individual awards including AA's, mascot. That is really all you need. if you want to read further, we could have the supplemental information page or break the rest of the stuff into many separate pages.
--Sgautr6 15:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Also, any idea when Dennis Shaver was born? I am trying to create a page for him since he does not have one. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Hey. Um... Could you please tell me which of Soxrock's edits you are referring to? This would be very helpful. Thank you. Please reply on my talk page. --Ksy92003 (talk) 18:39, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw that after I left you the message. The reason I asked is because Soxrock has been accused of violating WP:NOT#PUBLISHER for editing the scores of sporting events currently in progress. I am the one who left the notice and first reported him and am monitoring his behavior and contributions. His talk page is on my watchlist, and I saw the comment you left him. Based on that, I thought that he was updating the scores of the baseball games and saying who lost, putting those teams in the loser's bracket. To be honest, I probably would've done the same thing too, putting the teams of that rank in that spot because "4" and "3" were in the seeding boxes. I probably would've done the same thing as he did.
- Anyway, since he is being monitored for that violation (the report is at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Soxrock, I thought that what he did was a further violation of WP:NOT#PUBLISHER and would've reported these edits as violation, as well. Since you left the comment on his talk page, I wanted to ask you about what he was doing. However, I, not only heard from you, but saw for myself that what Soxrock was doing was greatly contributing to that page and he made an accidental error. I apologize to Soxrock for [kinda] accusing him of violating a rule [which I admit he didn't] and I apologize to you for bringing you into this issue. --Ksy92003 (talk) 20:06, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1988 SEC Baseball Tournament
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have perfomed a web search with the contents of 1988 SEC Baseball Tournament, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: 2004 SEC Baseball Tournament. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 14:22, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] LSU Supplement
I figured out the tabling, and will start adding to the draft table within the next few days. And I knew that the All Americans were on the Prominent Players section, but I thought it be would nice to have an All American section, so if somebody needed info on that they could get it quick. Also, I have some ideas for new sections such as LSU Records, All SEC Players, Team Captains, Assistant Coaches, a brief history on Tiger STadium, LSU vs All Opponents, and the starting lineups for the 1958 and 2003 National Championship teams.
And I'm going to guess that you are WikiTiger on TD.com, correct?

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Todd_Walker_LSU_Hall_of_Fame.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Todd_Walker_LSU_Hall_of_Fame.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 19:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] LSU Baseball Page
Since it's baseball season, I went and checked it out. It seems very incomplete, so I was took on the task of trying to improve it. Just curious what you thought about what I have done so far. Any suggestions you can provide would be great.
Also if you want to write a section or two or any under History would be nice.
A couple notes:
- I took away prominent players. It is impossible to define prominent, so I figured we could keep it to All Americans. It's a very hard list to come up with and I am going to do my best. I've added a few to start, but will slowly add more.
- Year by Year results looks ugly to me. I'm going to try and clean it up a little bit and format it a little nicer. I'd like to take away the postseason column and use superscript symbols like ^ on the side of the record to denote things such as SEC Champions, NCAA Regional, ETC. A lot of this already exists in the LSU in the NCAA Tournament section, so it seems repetitive
Anyway just let me know what you think

[edit] Speedy deletion of Tiger Droppings
A tag has been placed on Tiger Droppings requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
