[edit] Image:Silverdale school.JPG has bee...
An image that you uploaded, Image:Silverdale school.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. |
I'm sorry, but I don't think that being from a school makes this image copyright free.

Fair enough - I'll wait for it to be deleted, and am going to remove the link to the page. Xyrael 21:43, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Yo! greetings from a fellow IBDoF dude, and wikipedian. --Mr. Dude †@£К ║ Çøת†яĭβü†ĬŎИ 14:52, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, greetings! May I ask how you get those colours in your signature automatically? Do you just copy/paste? --Xyrael 15:06, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- No, ummm you can do any sort of formating you want using html (Xhtml works tooo I think). Just write out your signature how you wish in code, go to the preferences menu and under the feild that says nickname paste your code, then I belive you have to use raw signatures. That should work. --Mr. Dude †@£К ║ Çøת†яĭβü†ĬŎИ 15:12, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm pretty happy with what I've got, but it's good to know. --Xyrael 15:16, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My edit to Priest
I think that using the term manga is not correct when talking of a manhwa. So every book is not a manga, even if Tokyopop says so.
- No problem. I'm no expert, and these corrections are ideal. Thanks. --Xyrael T 20:49, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New page patrol

how do you pronounce 'Xyrael'?
- "zih-rih-ul" or "zih-ray-elle" --Xyrael T 17:30, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Xyrael, you need to closely review the rules in WP:CSD. I found you misusing the delete tag twice within one hour without trying to track down your edits, just by accident:
- Nelson Burton which is an ad for sure, but certainly not empty, and
- El Rey, which may or may not pass under WP:CORP but is certainly not empty!
Go back and read the relevant provisions before click that delete button! I changed both to prod - feel free to expand the rationale there, esp. on El Rey which is not at all clear that it should be deleted. In other words, you can only request deletion if you believe it fails WP:CORP, and I suspect you have to clue, as I certainly do not, so either research it or withdraw the prod there. I don't mean to be mean, but we have to adhere to the rules here closely or else we start trampling on people's work and then WP is not fun. - the.crazy.russian τ ç ë 18:17, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the constructive criticism. I'll be more careful next time! --Xyrael 19:03, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- It'll actually be best if you clarify on the El Rey talk page how and why El Rey fails to meet WP:CORP. An unsupported allegation of a WP:CORP violation is extremely unlikely to result in deletion because WP:CORP has very specific criteria. If and when you do do it, you should add "see talk page for rationale" to the prod message. Thanks - the.crazy.russian τ ç ë 19:14, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- Another suggestion: it's a good idea to answer on the message-leaver's talk page - that way they're notified abt it. Some of us lead hectic wikilives :) and can't always track down answers to their questions. Thankss again for your work fighting trash on WP. - the.crazy.russian τ ç ë 19:19, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- I think I've followed both of those guidelines. Thanks again for your assistance. --Xyrael 19:38, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mary Moss
Thanks for the suggestion to add sections. I divided the page into "Early Life", "Married Life", and "Later Life".
Neelix 18:46, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. I saw the section as particularly long and though it would be more readable with sections. --Xyrael 19:04, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vasilije Krestic
Thanks for prodding me to elaborate. But: don't you think you jumped in there and sponsored the page's deletion a little quickly? I do. I'd like you to remove the tag, as I understand it is bad form for me to do so.
Profnjm 16:28, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll go ahead and remove the tag, as you seem to have expanded on the information below on his importance. Good luck with finishing the article :) --Xyrael 16:45, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the note...I'm fairly new at this, so it'll take me some time. I'll try to follow the guidelines as well as I can.

Hi. i see youve recently added {{geo-stub}} to a load of stubs on craters. geo-stub is for places on earth. anything on other planets gets {{crater-stub}}. BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard 00:47, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Note - this was responded to on the user's talkpage. --Xyrael 10:29, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- if you just did one of them, sorry - i wouldnt normally have commented. about ten turned up in Cat:Geography stubs on one day so id assumed that the person who did one of them had done the lot. in any case, geo-stubs almost never used now since so many countries have their own stub, so the less anyone uses it the better :) BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard 02:09, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Sean Whitton/Archive 1, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in April, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC Tutorial written by one of our members. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
- I thank you for the helpful information, and am looking forward to getting more involved. --Xyrael 16:13, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'd also like to welcome you. Please don't flood the channel so much with !drink, though. :) — nathanrdotcom (T • C • W) 18:31, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Heheh, I'm rather a fussy customer ;) Thank you for the additional welcome. --Xyrael 17:34, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

- I've checked and the link at the top goes to the homepage, as it should, and the contact one goes to my profile. Thank you for letting me know, but I think you got the wrong address. The fact that you noticed it points out to me that the page may need to shifting around so that others don't get confused. --Xyrael 17:16, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nope, I looked at the url you have in more detail. You simply need to add "www" before ibdof. lika so ---> http://www.ibdof.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=982 . You have that url without the www, and at least in my browser (firefox) it redirects to the forum index. Sorry, I should have looked at the code first. [edit] Old Skool Esperanzial note
Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for keeping me informed, but I'm not sure that it's appropriate for me to vote because I am so new to the organisation and I don't know everyone else. I will review the candidates list however and will consider posting my view, although I'm not sure that I will be able to give a full and valid opinion. --Xyrael 09:31, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3
|
The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
- This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

Stressbusters

The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome! |
Note from the editor

As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership! |

- Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
- A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
- Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
- Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
- Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

[edit] Possible bug in Vandalproof?
Hi there! I see that you used VandalProof on Inquisition [1]. But the vandal actually vandalised the page twice consecutively, and so it happened that you reverted back to an already vandalised version [2]! I do not have Vandalproof and I don't know how it works. So I'm just wondering if there is a bug in it or something :( Have a nice day, 199.111.230.195 21:32, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Your recent edit to 1990s was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Click here for frequently asked questions about the bot and this warning. // Tawkerbot2 14:43, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- This was a mistake, and it has been reported on the bot's talkpage. I was actually removing vandalism at the time! --Xyrael T 14:46, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hello. It wasn't a total mistake, the problem was that you reverted one set of vandalism, but missed that the previous edit you reverted to was vandalised in a different way, so that's why it was picked up, as when you reverted, you were re-adding the original vandalism (by accident of course!) See my revert which goes back one further for details [3]. Regards, and keep up the good work! MartinRe 15:35, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Recent changes on Indo-European
I found for example word losos which doesn't exist in Polish - in that case I'm trying to change it on łosoś, which exists. I'm also searching for Russian words and deriverates which have many in common and if I found resemblance word in Polish - I'm adding it in list.
For Mike's Pollock page - I don't remember changes I made, but thank you for your message.
BTW: This address isn't my private IP - I'm working on one of Laboratories left for students in my university. Due that this message is available not only for me.

[edit] Queen Geraldine of Albania and the bocking
I merely forgot to put in a edit summary. I was adding Queen Geraldine's correct name. She was formerly a Countess, yes, but she ascended to the title of Queen of the Albanians and the style Her Majesty on her marriage to the reigning monarch His Majesty King Zog I. Queen is therefore the correct title to give her, that is all I was doing, obviously not vandalism.(129.234.4.10 20:22, 10 May 2006 (UTC))
- Responded on IP's talkpage. --Xyrael T 20:24, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
The user above has a history of doctoring Albanian pages to push POV, including calling the pretender to the Albanian Throne "His Majesty" all over articles. To stop him, pages have had to be semi-protected. Re the edit above, on Wikipedia under the Naming Conventions, as elsewhere in biographies, deceased consorts revert to maiden name, for the simple reason that as their consort name lacks an ordinal (number) to disambigulate them from other similarly named consorts. Hence history refers to Catherine of Aragon, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr, not Queen Catherine, Queen Catherine and Queen Catherine. The above user has however chosen to ignore the Manual of style prohibition on using styles and the naming convention rules, and turned articles on Albanian royalty into POV hagiographies. Perhaps my edit was unnecessary but it was far from vandalism. Here is a link to the aforementioned match and an argument, however tenuous, against the need for weight classes in Mixed Martial Arts. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4754358887413654428&q 68.36.87.121 22:19, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
