[edit] Hello

Hi Seamus215. I'm assuming that it is you that has been emailing me recently regarding journalism. This is just to apologise for my delays in replying, however I currently have been having trouble logging into my email address that I contact you through. I was wondering if you could perhaps message me on here for the time being until the problem is rectified. Thanks! If it isn't you, I do apologise. Wikiwoohoo 17:24, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, only questions on journalism please. :) How do you like the new World News Today though? Wikiwoohoo 17:28, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, but YUCK! The studio background is to dim, and the graohics are horrible, but the content is ace. I just don't think George is the person for the JOb, I think AL Yates would be more suited.--Seamus215 17:33, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Do you really think it's that bad? I personally like the graphics, plus I think that using the Sport Today studio gives some kind of variety across the day of World viewers. From what I've seen, a lot of people watching BBC World seem to like Alastair Yates. He is a great newsreader, you never know, he may well present a World News Today programme one day. Wikiwoohoo 18:21, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
I was watching a bulliten with Martine Croxall, and There was a weird wideshot I saw what looked like an area to stand up in-between the studio and the newsroom. I know you can't say anything, but it looked Interesting to say the least.--Seamus215 18:02, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I forgot to mention to you before but you can email me again now if you'd like, or you could stick to using this from now on. Up to you. Glad you watch the channel a lot. I would if I could, but only really get the chance to when abroad, when in fact I'm helping to contribute to what you see. :) Wikiwoohoo 20:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I can't watch it, because directv doesn't have it, and even though I live in NYC, my conty doesn't have cabelvision. What exacly do you do at BBC World?--Seamus215 20:47, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm with BBC News in general rather than BBC World directly. I'm currently based concerning news in the UK, my five months in South Africa was in effect a form of work experience mixed with training to view an international news section and how it operated. If all goes well, I could be off again elsewhere later this year. Wikiwoohoo 20:59, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Do you have any examples that you can show me of your work?--Seamus215 21:04, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Nothing directly contributable to me. What happens with a lot of the articles you see at bbc.co.uk/news is very similar to articles on Wikipedia. Information is added in as time progresses by several people. Of course with BBC News this would be over a day rather than a continuous period with articles here. However, it is my ambition to become a journalist onscreen rather than behind the scenes. You may have seen me walking behind the screens behind the desks on BBC World and maybe BBC News 24 at some point so technically I already am :) Wikiwoohoo 21:10, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I was reading in TVF that "Over the coming bank holiday weekend watch out for a studio shuffle for News 24. There is a reason for this and it will only be temporary. The normal move where News 24 moves into World's studio and BBC World moving into the national news studio will not be happening due to Monday being a regular work day in most of the rest of the world. " Do you know?--Seamus215 20:06, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

It's just routine maintenance as far as I know. What's 'TVF'? Wikiwoohoo 19:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
tv forum. I suggest you join, it has good scoops, but they all hate me, so I might leave.--Seamus215 21:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I've had a quick look at it. Doesn't really seem my sort of thing, quite hard to navigate, plus what I saw when I worked out what to do did not seem at all friendly. If people are being rude or unkind to you there, I suggest you leave. There is no point staying there if people are making you feel bad. If you have anymore queries about my experiences of journalism, it would probably be better now if you emailed them to me, and put questions regarding Wikipedia as a whole or articles here instead. I won't be joining that forum though, not my thing at all. Wikiwoohoo 20:18, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

They were not one nation, they were three seperate nations under a confederation government. Each had its own leader and they could not agree on a single government which is why the nation broke down. I will revert --DaBiggman 04:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 'TV Forum' images

Hi Seamus215. When I had a look at the TV Forum site I came across several images that would be ideal for use on here and can meet the fair use criteria with television screenshot copyright tags. If it wasn't too much trouble, would you perhaps be able to contact the owner or administrator of the site to ask for permission to use images, or would it be necessary to ask members individually? THanks for your help! Wikiwoohoo 19:23, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey

I thought I know you when I saw this username. I am Channel2tv on TV Forum. I was thinking, for the RTE News pages, we should use the screen caps of the opening sequence for each news as the image, not the anchor sitting there. What do you think? Arbiteroftruth 13:50, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I wouldn't want to show off those titles. I guess if we have the set more dominant on the page, we could also pur the titles.Seamus215 14:13, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:N24set99.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:N24set99.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see [[Wikipedia:Fair If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is use#Policy|our fair use policy]]).

located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 20:02, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I added it back to the BBC News 24 Article. It is better quality than the previous one.Seamus215 22:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pvr001.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pvr001.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:57, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
