I personally view "thrash" metal as derivative of speed metal. I don't recall ever hearing a slow thrash-metal band, but I have heard plenty of speed metal bands that were certainly not thrash. -- goatasaur

[edit] Trivia

I'm trying to find out what the lyric is in "Expendable Youth", at about 2 minutes and 32 seconds into the song, just prior to the guitar solo. Doing a quick bit of googling, it is mostly quoted as being "Fight-ring you motherfucker (?)", but it certainly doesn't sound like that to me. No question about the last two words, but the first sounds like it could be "biting" or "blighting". Earlier I had thought it might have even been a reference to King (and thus, the imminent guitar solo). Anyone know what it actually says? fonetikli 22:38, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

  • It's "Try and take me you..." --PopUpPirate 22:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the speedy reply... but have another listen to it if you are able. I can't match your suggestion to what I'm hearing on the track. =/ fonetikli 22:58, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Frustratingly, Tom Araya doesn't sing that particular line in the live version on Decade of Aggression =( fonetikli 05:30, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
