[edit] questions?

ok, question number 1

1) how do we know that the seanchan brought their exotic animals from over worlds via the portal stones? i don't recall reading that. please clarify

Its in the Wheel of Time Encyclopedia - paddypyro

2) wasn't there a roman leagion(sp?) with a similar name to "the ever victorious army"?

thanks for clearing these up -manwithbrisk

1) I don't believe we do know that, but I can check the books when I get home. Good catch!
2) There's several with the word Victrix (Victorious) in their names at List of Roman legions, but I'm not sure if that's what you were thinking of. It's a fairly common appelation for armies, but if we can get some concrete references of real-world similarities, that would be good to add. -- nae'blis (talk) 22:29, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

adding to my first 2 questions
3) how do we know really anything of the geography of seanchan?

--gooseneck 22:22, 31 May 2006 (UTC) formarly manwithbrisk

The big white book has a map of Seanchan; the RPG book may also, I don't recall specifically. -- nae'blis (talk) 15:49, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
you sir are wise and knowedgable, thank you for answering my questions--Manwithbrisk 16:30, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Factual accuracy

During the time of the Trolloc Wars, the peoples of Seanchan used Portal Stones to reach alternate worlds and return with such creatures as grolm, torm, lopar, corlm, raken, and to'raken. Integrating these creatures into their armies, the people of Seanchan were able to drive back the Trollocs.

This paragraph seems to be causing problems as evidenced by the above question. In addition to that question, if these events happened a thousand years before Hawkwing sent his army across the ocean, how could they have been Seanchan? Did the Trolloc War even affect the Seanchan continent? I'm tempted to remove the paragraph. --TheParanoidOne 17:15, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

the continant the seanchan hale from is called seanchan, therefor technicaly everyone who lived ther, even those before the army was sent across the sea and founded the seanchan that we know presently in the books, could be cal seanchan--gooseneck 22:20, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
You seem to be talking about the natives of Seanchan but the paragraph is talking about the people of the Westlands (hence 'Trolloc War'). --TheParanoidOne 05:22, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
The Trolloc Wars affected Seanchan too, as Seanchan has a Blight.
 • Yeah but there weren't any Trollocs there's only Draghker it's called the lesser blight for a reason. The trollocs were exterminated sometime after the war of power before the Trolloc Wars. Jamhaw 18:59, 12 October 2006 (UTC)jamhaw

Didn't the Aes Sedai over there preserve more knowledge, and bring them over from them? IIRC thats what it says in the Encyclopedia paddypyro

[edit] Seanchan animals

Shouldn't therebe something abouyt which Seanchan animals correspond to real-life animals? I know for a fact that the "s'redit" (i think?) is an elephant. And I'm sure some of the others are real animals too. I'd to it myself, but I'm not sure which are which.

besides the s'redit(sp?) non of the seanchan animals really have real life counterparts, they may porhaps have multiple draws, but they don't really have a lone real world name. unless someone can find a three eyed cat lizard that is large enough to ride, that is. but feel free to put down what you think is what and the community can judge what fits best. best of luck.--Manwithbrisk 16:17, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ipa

what good is puting the ipa pronounciations if few people know how to use them maybe i am the last person on earth who doesn't get ipa, but something in the back of my brain is saying that i'm not oppps forgot to sign--Manwithbrisk 17:02, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge?

 • Leave - Why merge the two Torms together, they're not the same! —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)
 • Support - I'm fine with the merging into Seanchan thing. Randfan 02:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
 • Support - see no reason for such a list. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 12:15, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
 • Leave - the article that is to be merged into this one is a horribly written, and should either be completely rewritten or scrapped, ratehr than merged into this article--Manwithbrisk 22:46, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] TEXAN DRAWL???

when did jordan say that? someone needs to get a refence on that just tossing a fact tag on it doesn't make it true--Manwithbrisk 22:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

He says it here, at the bottom of this page: http://linuxmafia.com/jordan/3_sources/3.14_countries.html. I always assumed he was joking. On the other hand, the lands of the Seanchan do have parallels with the Americas (a new land to the west, colonised by "Europe", eventually becomes more powerful than "Europe"). 58.7.115.223 13:24, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Torm link

links to the wrong "torm" as of now. There is a torm article describing the wot beast, but not the one linked.Polkapolkapoker 23:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Alternate" vs "other" word choice for portal stones.

In the series, these worlds reached via the portal stones are described as worlds that "might have been," or as reflections of the "real" world if events had occurred differently. Therefore, "alternate" is the proper word. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Polkapolkapoker (talkcontribs) 23:09, 6 May 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Torm merge

The article List of seanchan animals only has the torm, so I merged it here. "Geography and natural features" is not a good heading, but I couldn't think of a better one. Tocharianne 18:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh gee, now I see there are lots of animal pages but for someone the List redirected only to torm. Anyway, I would propose that they all be merged. Tocharianne 18:39, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Why? They all have a reasonable amount of information describing each on their own pages. It would just clog up this page. They are subsidiary to the main points of the page.Polkapolkapoker 22:09, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
