[edit] Adding a link

I was wondering what the group would think about my adding a link to an on-line tour of temple square to this article. The link is located at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/templesquare.php. I should disclose that I am the creator of the site, which is why I wanted to make sure it was alright with the group before posting the link myself. I hope I've proceeded appropriately, as I'm new to Wikipedia and don't understand all of its policies.

Because I was the first person to post to this discussion, and because no one has responded, I’m going to assume this page has no associated active discussion and that I may never get a response. I’ve gotten positive responses to my request to post a link to my on-line tour of temple square at Temple Square, so I’m going to assume it’s alright to proceed here as well. Please let me know if I’m mistaken.

[edit] Merge

This article should be merged into Temple Square or to Miracle of the Gulls. As heart-warming as the story has become the thousands of times it has been told, it doesn't need two (2) separate articles on Wikipedia to tell it. Not only is the statue on its own not really notable enough, the images would look a lot better adorning one of the other two suggested merge candidates. Reswobslc 04:30, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the statute is one of the notable works of Mohonri Young, one the more famous artists to ever come out of Utah. The Miracle of the Gulls is an interesting historical piece because a lot of evidence suggests that no such miracle occurred—at least not of the sort or miracle lionized in the movie Brigham Young. However, since both articles are brief, I would not oppose a merger until they are expanded. In the end these belong in different articles. See also SESmith's opposition on Talk:Miracle of the gulls. I think that this article is currently the least encyclopedic of the two, so if you give me a little time I can bring it up to contemporary Wikipedia standards, because it's certainly a worthy topic. This is a copy of my comment which is at Miracle of the gulls. Since the merge proposal directed to that page, I assumed we were supposed to comment there ...
"I oppose the proposed merge of Seagull Monument into this article. I think the monument is notable enough in and of itself, since it is likely many people know the monument as a landmark without knowing anything about what it commemorates.
"Both articles could certainly be expanded. The monument article could be expanded to include more information about its conception, design, dedication, etc. In general I'm in favor of keeping the articles for monuments and the event they commemorate separate. For example, I'd hate to see Irish Hunger Memorial merged into Great Irish Famine. –SESmith 05:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)"
