Any one has come across Seabather's eruption in Thailand? Wondering whether it is the same as the disease mentioned here.

[edit] North Carolina

This happens sometimes at the North Carolina beaches too.

[edit] Australia

While swimming at Mooloolaba, in Australia, I personally experienced something identical to this. If it's occurring in Southeast Asia, it's not completely unreasonable to assume that it's also possible that it's a common occurrence in Australia, too. I'll try and find a solid source online. There certainly is something akin to this in Australia. Here people call it "sea lice" or less-commonly "pelican itch". I've never known what causes it and people seem to have a lot of different ideas. I've never heard this explanation before. But it definitely is very common in Australia, at least along the East coast. - R. Breen, 14:46 Sat 23 February 2008.
