Seattle Buddhist Church
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Seattle Buddhist Church (built 1940–41) is a Japanese Buddhist temple in Seattle, Washington, USA. Although it was designed by Japanese American A.K. Arai, the architect of record was Pierce A. Horrocks, because Arai lacked an architectural license.[1] It replaced an earlier Seattle Buddhist Church (1906–1908, Charles W. Saunders & George Willis Lawton) that was torn down as part of the Yesler Terrace project.[2]
The building is a designated Seattle landmark.[3]
