Search Bloc
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Search Bloc consisted of a group of Colombian police officers who were assembled with the sole objective of the apprehension of drug dealer Pablo Escobar and his associates. The members of the Search Bloc received training from the United States Special Forces and were selected for being especially impervious to police corruption such as bribes. Throughout the mission, the Search Bloc faced obstacles such as a spy within the Search Bloc, allegations of collaboration with the anti-Escobar vigilante group Los Pepes, which would have included vigilantism within the Search Bloc pertaining to suspicious deaths of Pablo Escobar's subordinates.
The death of Pablo Escobar happened on December 2, 1993 in a shootout with members of the Search Bloc.
After dismantling the Medellin Cartel the Search Bloc was transferred to Cali to search and shut down the structure of the Cali Cartel.
