[edit] About SeamlessWeb

Launched in 1999, SeamlessWeb Professional Solutions, Inc. provides companies and their employees with a Web-based system for ordering from restaurants, caterers, florists, gift-basket purveyors, and other local vendors. SeamlessWeb’s clients include the 12 largest investment banks, over 90 of the AmLaw 100 law firms, and hundreds of businesses in private equity, asset management, accounting, consulting, securities dealing, advertising and public relations, fashion, architecture, pharmaceuticals, broadcasting, entertainment, software, engineering, and other industries.

SeamlessWeb currently serves over 1,500 companies throughout the U.S. and United Kingdom in 14 different cities including:

  • New York City
  • Philadelphia
  • Boston
  • Washington DC
  • Jersey City
  • Metro New York
  • Chicago
  • Houston
  • San Francisco
  • LA
  • London

In late 2005 SeamlessWeb created an application for individual users without a corporate account to order through SeamlessWeb; called “My SeamlessWeb”. It was designed as a free, online service that enables consumers to order conveniently from the best local delivery restaurants.

In April 2006, SeamlessWeb was acquired by Aramark. SeamlessWeb operates as an independent business line under the Aramark umbrella.

The name "SeamlessWeb" was coined to reflect a unique approach to creating efficiencies in billing, accounting, and reimbursement. Solutions can be integrated easily – seamlessly – with companies' existing accounting systems, streamlining the entire ordering process and reducing wasteful administrative overhead.

[edit] How it Works

Once a user logs into the site, they must enter a delivery address. The site then shows them a list of restaurants that will deliver to them based on the address they have entered. Users can scroll through the restaurants or search for a place by specific tags like cuisine type or estimated delivery time. By clicking on a restaurant you can bring up their menu, and then select any items to add to your food basket. To finish the order the user must enter their credit card information, and then submit the order directly to the restaurant.

SeamlessWeb does not prepare or deliver any food. They link up the customer with the restaurant. Once a user submits an order is directly sent to the restaurant that then prepares and delivers the food. When the food arrives, there is no cash exchange since the meal and tip are put on credit card.
