Like a photograph of a billboard, I believe that this is not considered a derivative work of the copyrighted box artwork,[1] and release it under my usual copyleft licenses:

If this is not legally possible, I assert that this is fair use in the article on Binary prefixes.

[edit] Fair use in Binary prefix

  • This product photograph succinctly shows the seemingly inconsistent decimal and binary measurements of hard disk capacity, in this case, that consumer hard disk capacity is marketed with prominent decimal units. This is after class action lawsuits that challenged this labeling.
  • This image shows the problem in the context of actual box artwork that a non-technical reader is likely to see.
  • The packaging and labeling of consumer products is a significant topic in the Binary prefix article.
  • The product and product packaging is typical for external hard disks. It is a "useful article" and not a work of art.
  • Using this product photograph does not deprive the copyright holder, Seagate, of any revenue or sales.
