Seán Keane was born in July 12, 1946 in Dublin. He is a well respected fiddler, but also a fiddle teacher. He was a member of Ceoltóirí Chualann in the 1960s, before joining The Chieftains in 1968. He has a unique style of playing, especially his use of ornamentation is very different from other fiddle players. This might be explained by the fact that his playing is influenced by the music of the Irish bagpipe, or uilleann pipes.
